pushed to believe
What have you been made to believe?
meteor shower
a lonely village shouts out
the future is here
…
life is a race
time is money
sleep when were dead
might distract us
from the bigger picture
that we are our own painters
creating our portraits and not others
measuring and comparing
What is important to you?
butterfly season
orange and black symphony
leaves the maple tree
…
our height
our age
our education
our looks
are only demographics
and does not reflect
who we truly are
living for later
Are you living for today or tomorrow?
mud rocks and branches
beavers slapping together
tomorrow’s castle
…
when our goal
or objective is almost
within our reach
we get so caught up
with trying to grab it
that we abandon
being present today
first jobs
What was your first job?
cleaning the gutters
the crow inches and inches
towards the crabapple
…
are not meant
to be the end all be all
but what we shouldn’t
take for granted
are all of the skills
and knowledge acquired
during our time there
it matters
Who has helped you be the person you are today?
escaping hatchlings
looking across the water
meet their destiny
…
to those who
put in the time
expended energy
overcame setbacks
and disadvantages
in order for us
to be healthy and happy
sorrow and solace
What path are you walking down?
walking at midnight
the racoon emerges from
a scrumptious dinner
…
thinking about the past
can lead us down
a darkened or lit path
but whatever end we start on
there is always a chance
we may be entering the other
later down the road
resistance
What has been blocking you lately?
running up the hill
the golden retriever stops
and admires us
…
can take on many forms from
our fear of failure
our procrastination
our imposter syndrome
but when we give ourselves permission
to recognize and accept them
will can start to move forward
past performance
Do you believe in bias?
knocking and knocking
a woodpecker leaves behind
a new welcome sign
…
is not an indicator
of what our future
will end up looking like
as no one can guarantee
how our actions today
will determine tomorrows fate
we just have to wait and see
we can give
How do you approach solving situations?
rectangle mirror
fragments of chalk ripples down
the next dimension
…
everyone the same
puzzle to solve
but not everyone
will solve it
exactly the same way
and that’s the beauty
of individuality and creativity
net casting
What skill do you want to learn?
praying fishermen
grey mountains crumble and sink
the water ripples
…
seems simple
at first glance
but just like learning
and acquiring a new skill
it takes persistence
patience, and passion
in order for us to master
working in the office
Where do you work best?
afternoon commute
the bus driver signals for
waiting passengers
…
is not where we
need to focus
on doing what matters most
for our business’s but
how we can be the best
we can be no matter
where we are
in search of
What are you searching for?
scraping and paving
the construction workers lay
a new galaxy
…
potential
progress
perfection
or are we
heading towards
mediocracy
and pitfalls?
