tip the scales
Are you working with or against yourself?
finding
traces of salt
on the water
…
one hand
holds freedom
the other
holds captivity
and we control
which way
the scale goes
limited edition
What is rare to you?
grey cardboard treasures,
legends frozen in still frames,
memories rebound
…
while out of our control
things such as time
condition
variations
and errors exist
we hold onto what we
believe is valuable
the last marathon
When do you have second thoughts?
the turning leaves
waving goodbye
to summer
…
we choose to run
will no doubt have moments
of second thoughts
and exhaustion
creep into our mind and bodies
before, during,
and after the race
load the car
What does being prepared mean to you?
summer camping
a group of bears
fight for chocolate
…
what if
we had boxes
to categorize
where things go
instead of just winging it
and throw things
in the trunk?
make better
How do you make the world a better place?
moss covered
stone lantern sees
garden seekers
…
the movements
we start don’t have
to be large
as long as they
inspire us
to be the change
we want to see in this world
permission
What are you allowing yourself to do?
afternoon train
stop and go
the rhythm of life
…
happiness
is our choice
sadness
is our choice
everything we decide
is our choice
and it comes from within
what we think
What opinions do you have?
fish scatter
as the net sinks
to the bottom
…
is a work of art
is what others think
is a piece of trash
provides opinions
and opportunities
to learn the why
behind them
write to write
Has your why changed?
ink meets paper
a friendly hello
in my journal
…
the reason
or reasons
why we choose
to do something
at the beginning
may or may not change
over our journey
but first, consider this
What lessons do you live by?
seeing the trail
from the backseat
car window
…
thinking we
can wait or delay
gratification
becomes fraught
if we don’t have
our health and
our happiness
early or late
When do you arrive?
late pickup
the garbage truck
hums on by
…
to even
right on time
when we show up
to events isn’t always
in our control
but our intentions
and attitudes are
the invisible fence
When do you take a leap of faith?
cymbals clash
the lion dances
through fire
…
has potential
has risk
just like any opportunity
we must realize
there was never a fence
separating sides
only our minds and time
hack to habit
What habits are you making?
walking around
the temple grounds
monkeys gather
…
the next time
we succeed or fail
take some time
to document
what went right
what went wrong
and save it for later
experience
What have you been exposed to?
waiting
and more waiting
for water to boil
…
will teach us
many things
and it is up to us
to learn how
we will internalize
and utilize these insights
for now and the future
