strange times

portal

the signal says

five minutes left

…

we truly live

in interesting times

when we can connect

virtually anywhere

and yet distant

to others

that are near-by

the record

on the field

nothing but green

and torn bandages

…

is the record

and no matter

how good or bad

the record is

it will never

be able to show

our true grit

go back

computer game

need a mouse

to play

…

and look at

the games

we used to play

when we were young

and see if nostalgia

kicks in or if we have lost

a sense of ourselves

hammer

a shadow

left on the wall

from the flowers

…

the same

instrument we use

to pound and drive

things into place

can also be

the one to pull out

mistakes and memories

the script

tell me

when the last time

the wolve howled

…

is not there

to be read

and recited

it exists

for us to act out

and preform

for the story to show

forget us not

dust and dirt

the buffalo race

over the plains

…

fickle thing

our memories

developed and built

by our minds

but renovated

and reimagined

by our hearts

holding onto

one hand holds

the fallen leaves

of the maple tree

…

grey hair

wrinkles

sun spots

and letting go

of age

of anxiety

or apathy

read the room

engine light

blinking and blinking

for no one

…

getting a sense

of who we talk too

of course takes time

but if we come unprepared

for different situations

and outcomes then

time may not be our issue

translate

Маргааш ирнэ

Шинэ өглөөний туяа

Итгэл гэрэлтэнэ

…

a word

from another

language

and we may get

the general meaning

but to understand it

we must live it

flavors

roasting coffee

the bitter taste

of tuesday

…

with so many options

brings us a choice

to pick our favorite

or opt out to see

what else is out there

for us to experience

and try something new

what matters

left behind

shopping carts

in the parking lot

…

is how we think

and do things

we can control

instead of worrying

or have fear over

events that have

yet to happen

trends

ask the robin

if they ate breakfast

or slept in

…

may feel like

they will last forever

and yet we are always

reminded that

they are fleeting by

with or without

our opinion

rehearsal

Moonlit stage

the pond welcomes

all fallen leaves

…

only then

will we begin

to understand

what it takes

for us to preform

before the audience

arrives to our space

wired

left alone

the cub begins

to open it’s eyes

…

when we establish

our core values

and principles

our lives will begin

to take shape of

how we see, think

and interact with it

as the story goes

autumn winds

bring us back to

grandmother’s house

…

generation

by generation

will speak of

what we did

how we did it

and why we made time

for doing these things

lather, rinse, repeat

after the rain

we look for

rainbows

…

says the instructions

on the back

of the shampoo bottle

but do we ever

stop to think about

what happens if

we don’t follow them?

identify

old chain fence

the rabbit leaps

into a new home

…

take a moment

and ask others

do they think

they know

what makes

and doesn’t

make us?

on and on

on a napkin

the sketches

of skyscrapers

…

with thoughts

passing through

our heads and yet

all of these ideas

need somewhere

to go or else they will run

away from us

pat on the back

feeding pond

the koi circle

and circle

…

for the work today

we invest

and sacrifice

our money

energy and time

into for a

better tomorrow

tools required

mighty swing

the carpenter jumps

out of harm’s way

…

it’s quite rare

for us to build

a product without

a certain set of skills

equipment and knowledge

as we will find out

through experience
