turn the tv off

standing in line

waiting for the opening

of the noodle shop

…

and go outside

for an adventure

in your own backyard

for who knows

who you’ll see

what you’ll do

where you’ll go

steps taken

mossy staircase

sees sunshine

and few visitors

…

may lead us

closer to where

we want to go

as movement

towards a goal

shows how much

progress we’ve made

signs

at ease

the sunset arrives

after the rain

…

if we trust

and go with

our gut

the world can

become our

playground

to explore

sitting still

waiting room

a dance of carts and people

in the afternoon

…

it takes patience

for situations

where we find

ourselves waiting for

something to happen

after the build up

of a story

default settings

a green smile

after sweeping up

the fallen leaves

…

think about it

as we ask ourselves

what we feel

and show to others

on an average

typical day

could be worth noticing

search

growing tall

the lemon tree

feels winters breath

…

for the answer

and we will find

many routes to take

and of those choices

we will need to decide

which we should focus on now

and which to travel down later

loose thread

dangling around

the shoe laces

race together

…

sometimes

all it takes

is one action

and then

things start

to unravel

in a chain of events

up to us

shimmering red

the oven sings as

the cake bakes

…

to decide

if we should

release a product

even if we think

there’s more work to be done

at the end of the day

we have to make the call

chew on this

fallen leaves

left unswept

until the wind comes

…

while we take

a walk

for time away

from the task

at hand

can make

a big difference

compete

withered by rain

the old wood stump

holds all stories

…

vs time

vs age

vs skill

vs teams

vs size

vs scores

vs ourselves

underdog

counting down

the final seconds

before the whistle

…

means there stands

an opponent

that others feel

is superior to us

and yet

the opportunity

still exists

for us to succeed

more or less

whistling

listening to the wind

and traffic sounds

…

the times

we look back on

and remember

whether bittersweet

or just sweet

are a reminder

life is fleeting

rubberband

left outside

the garbage totes

wait to be lifted

…

the tension is real

so much so

we can feel it

being stretched out

to the point of no return

and just like that

it snaps back into place

hands that make

dishes and bubbles

a sea of broccoli

escapes down the drain

…

our breakfast

our lunch

our dinner

our dessert

always need

to remember

to wash their hands

full of youth

on the table

a bunch of bananas

turning yellow

…

for even if

we have amassed

a large amount

of wealth

we must have

our health to enjoy

and experience things

battery life

blinking light

a change in the weather

after the storm

…

if we were

to know how

much time

we have left

will we push

it to the limit

or coast on by?

path

rolling in dirt

the dog makes

a new playground

…

stay the course

climb the ladder

pass on our skills

they used to say

yet little did we know

it’s not about our title or role

but what we actually like to do

warm up

the signal

roasted vegetables

in the oven

…

to cool down

it all comes around

for all our energy

and efforts

will pay off

after we complete

what we start

alas

back at home

another version

of yesterday

…

we aren’t taught

what is important

we acquire it

through experiences

that turn into memories

for us to recall

and look back fondly on

stuff happens

crashing waves

the boat sways

the sailor sighs

…

we all have

those times

when nothing

seems to be

going our way

but knowing this

will make us more resilient
